Here we go! A brand new chipset from Qualcomm has been announced today and it’s the Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 chipset and yes, it does support sub-5GHz 5G and also WiFi 6. The Snapdragon 690 is the successor to Snapdragon 675 and the former offers a more substantial upgrade from Snapdragon 675.
Snapdragon 690 will support SA, NSA, and 5G however, it only comes with sub-6GHz and it doesn’t include mmWave which can offer faster and better speeds. Compared to the Snapdragon 675, the Snapdragon 690 will offer a 20% faster CPU performance and a 60% faster graphics performance which will definitely improve our gaming experience on the smartphone with its Adreno 619L GPU.
Aside from that, the Snapdragon 690 chipset will also support 120Hz display with up to FHD+ resolution and also Quick Charge 4+. This will also come with WiFi 6.
The Snapdragon 690 chipset is the first 5G-ready chipset in the 600 series of Snapdragon and they expect devices with this chipset to arrive this second half of the year.
