Foldable Phones Milestone: One Million Units Manufactured

Addressing the rising demand for user-centric innovations, Dr. Ray Guo, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of HONOR Device Co. Ltd., emphasized the brand’s commitment to ushering in a new era for smart devices. Foldables, on-device AI, and human-centric technologies, including eye comfort display technology, were identified as pivotal in enhancing human-device interaction experiences.

HONOR also focused on integrating eye comfort display technology in response to a global vision impairment challenge. The company invested over $140 million in display technology research and development, creating more than 500 display-related patents.

Past challenges associated with foldables, such as portability, durability, and battery life, have been effectively addressed. Devices like the HONOR Magic V2, as thin and light as regular flagship smartphones, now offer the benefits of an immersive foldable screen. The Magic V2, tested to endure at least 400,000 folds, has become the top-selling foldable in China. In fact, it captured a remarkable 25% share of the expanding foldable market as a single model.

Having invested in AI for several years, the company unveiled during the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit that its upcoming HONOR Magic6 smartphone will feature On-device LLM powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform. This marks a crucial step towards a hybrid AI model. It also leverages on-device AI for personalized content and services while prioritizing user privacy with data remaining on the device.
