Yes, you read that right! Huawei will be making their HarmonyOS 2.0 available to smartphones by next year! And of course, they’ll be introducing an adaptive UX framework too that will allow developers to reach tens of millions of new devices and users.
HarmonyOS will be an open-source operating system and developers will be happy to know that they’ll be able to gain access to emulators, SDK packages, and IDE tools. This will be launch in stages and it will open first to Chinese developers by the end of 2020. Starting today, 128KB-128MB IoT devices like the Smart TVs, wearables and cars will be able to enjoy HarmonyOS while in April 2021, they’ll be able to run the operating system on 128MB-4GB devices, and in October 2021, they’ll be able to run it on 4GB devices and above including smartphones.
