Samsung Galaxy A52 5G Review: A fine midrange Galaxy phone

The Samsung Galaxy A-series is one of the most popular smartphone lines out there and the Korean company’s latest one is the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G. This is different from the Galaxy A52 because this one not only packs a 5G inside but it also sports a better processor which changes the whole thing about the smartphone. Check out what we think about the smartphone in our review below:

Samsung Galaxy A52 Review: Design and construction

Unlike the previous generation that sports a glossy plastic back, they went for a matte plastic body for this smartphone, and as expected, it wouldn’t have the same premium feel as the Galaxy S series smartphones but since they’re using plastic for this one, the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G is really light to hold for its size.

Despite its size, the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G is thin and ergonomic enough for my usage and thankfully, the smartphone doesn’t have a big bulge on the camera module of the smartphone. Actually, the camera module on the smartphone is quite unique as the camera module is embossed in the back cover of the smartphone.

Despite most smartphones losing the headphone jack, the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G still features a headphone jack and then there’s the USB-C port too but unfortunately, the smartphone still supports 25W fast charging compared to most smartphones that are going for 30W and up.

For the fingerprint scanner, the smartphone comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner instead of the side-fingerprint scanner. It’s fast but I would suggest that you pair it with a face unlock for a faster face unlock on the smartphone.

Another thing to appreciate from the smartphone is that they’re now water and dust resistant just like their flagship brothers.

Samsung Galaxy A52 5G Review: Display

The display of the smartphone is actually of its biggest strengths. The smartphone comes with a 6.5-inch Full HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate but unlike most smartphones in the market at its price range, this one comes with a Super AMOLED panel.

Basically, the smartphone’s display comes with excellent colors and I don’t have any problems using the smartphone outside because this one is vivid enough and everything was great on the smartphone.

The smartphone also comes with a punch-hole selfie camera and unlike the previous Galaxy smartphones, this one has a smaller punch-hole for the selfie camera.

As for the refresh rate, the smartphone does a perfect job in handling games at more than 60fps unlike most smartphones in the market. The Samsung Galaxy A52 5G is also very responsive when playing games and the display of the smartphone is definitely one of the best in its price range.

Samsung Galaxy A52 5G Review: Battery life

The battery life of the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G is just fine. We got here a 4500mAh battery inside the smartphone and again, we have here a 25W charging. For the battery test, we got a score of 10 hours and 6 minutes on the PC Mark Work 2.0 Battery test.

Samsung Galaxy A52 5G Review: Software and performance

First, let’s talk about the software inside the smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy A52 5G comes with OneUI 3.1 inside and it’s based on Android 11. The smartphone is very responsive to use of course and most of the apps that are included are useful. The UI is fast and responsive as well and I do love the clean look of the UI of the smartphone.

As for the performance, we got here an 8GB of RAM and also a Snapdragon 750G 5G processor inside. Surprisingly, they’ve included 256GB of internal storage on the smartphone which is why you can install a lot of games and apps on this smartphone without the need for microSD card.

When it comes to gaming, the smartphone can handle most games and apps but of course, you have to set your expectations as not everything can run at the highest settings but hey, at least we were able to play Genshin Impact on the smartphone. Check out our gaming review of the smartphone below:

When it comes to benchmarks, the Snapdragon 750G 5G performed as expected. We got a score of below 400K on Antutu and they just scored just fine on 3DMark and also on Geekbench

Samsung Galaxy A52 5G Review: Camera

I was actually surprised with the camera that I got on the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G as this one is good on both the selfie and the main cameras of the smartphone. For the rear cameras, we got here a 64MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide, 5MP macro, and 5MP depth while the selfie camera is a 32MP selfie camera.

If you ask me, the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G would be better if they opted for a telephoto lens just like the Galaxy A72 for a better zooming quality. The camera app of the smartphone comes with a lot of features including Single take, fun mode, and a lot more.

For videos, the smartphone is capable of recording at 4K@60fps on both the rear camera and also at the selfie camera of the smartphone. If you’re curious about the quality, check out the shots that we took using the smartphone:

Selfie Camera:

Surprisingly, both the main camera and the ultrawide camera of the smartphone performed really well. The dynamic range on the cameras was really good and it can really capture the details that we need on the shots. The colors are good and they are really sharp but if you’re planning on shooting in low light, well, it won’t be as good as the flagship smartphones but it’s a good one.

Overall, the camera of the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G is still excellent and it definitely exceeds my expectations for the smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy A52 5G Review: Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy A52 5G packs a lot of surprises for us. The smartphone’s display was excellent and it can really help us have an advantage in gaming and the smartphone’s cameras were really good and better than expected. The processor might not be able to play the latest games at the highest settings possible, it’s still a good one.

However, the smartphone isn’t perfect as the smartphone doesn’t have a premium build and the battery life of the smartphone is just an average for me with a 25W charging.

Despite the flaws of the smartphone, I still believe the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G is still an excellent smartphone. We got here an excellent smartphone for everyday usage whether you want this for your taking photos for social media or for some casual gaming.
