The ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED is one of my favorite laptops that I have ever reviewed from ASUS. It’s thin, light, powerful enough and it’s perfect for my everyday needs. I have been using this laptop for quite a while now in school and for work, so you might be curious: what do I love about this notebook? Let me tell you some of the stuff that I love about it.
It’s thin, light, and portable
One of the problems I used to have was carrying a big, heavy laptop to school. After a while of commuting, it became pretty annoying. Thankfully, the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED has a thin, light, and portable body. I can use a smaller, lighter backpack with this laptop since it has a smaller footprint due to its 13” display.
It’s also light, which means carrying it with one hand isn’t a problem. I’ve experienced less back pain as well, since the laptop weighs just 1kg. It’s not the lightest one I’ve tried, but it’s definitely lighter than most laptops out there.
Vivid display
One of its major selling points is the OLED display. OLED technology is gradually becoming more common in ASUS laptops, including the Vivobooks, and I really appreciate the OLED panel. Watching videos and movies on this laptop is a lot better and more colorful. The colors are more vivid, and the blacks are truly black on this display.
While the display isn’t perfect, as it has a 60Hz refresh rate, this laptop is mainly targeted for productivity at work and school, so that’s just fine for me. But again, that OLED display is really easy on the eyes.
Fast loading and boot times
Inside the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED is an Intel Core Ultra 7 155U processor along with 16GB of RAM and also a 1TB SSD. The Intel processor inside it is really fast even when I’m opening the lid of the notebook from my bag. It’s quite near to the ARM experience when booting up as the combination of the hardware really help in app loading times and boot loading times.
All the ports that I need
One of the downsides of having a thin notebook is that sometimes, the manufacturers are sacrificing the ports that they have on their laptops. However, with the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED, they still managed to have a 2x Thunderbolt port, an HDMI port, 1x USB-A, and an audio combo jack. Unfortunately, no SD card reader in here but again, this one is made for productivity on office or school anyway and not really 100% for creatives.
Long battery life
There’s a pretty long battery life on this laptop as well. ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED comes with a 63 Wh and also a fast charging capability with its 65W charger which is pretty light and small as well. ASUS promises a long battery life on this notebook and in our experience, I was able to squeeze in 8 hours of battery life on this notebook. Sometimes, I don’t even bring a charger with me at school.
