If you are looking for an affordable galaxy smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy A12 might be part of your list. It’s one of the affordable Samsung phones out there and it’s a budget entry to the Galaxy smartphone ecosystem. Do you want to know more about the smartphone? Check it out in our review below
Samsung Galaxy A12 Review: Design and hardware
When it comes to design, the Samsung Galaxy A12 does have a solid feel but is it good? Well, it’s a plastic one but I can tell that it’s solid enough but not as premium as other smartphones. It also has a textured back at the upper part of the smartphone while the lower part comes with a smooth plastic feel which isn’t that bad.
The smartphone does come with a weight but it does add to the solid feel of the smartphone. It still is ergonomic despite its weight thanks to the curved sides of the smartphone and the smartphone’s size just fits perfectly in my hand.
For the port, we got here a USB-C port below the smartphone just beside the headphone jack. For the USB-C port, the smartphone supports 15W charging so it will take some time before you can fully charge the smartphone.
As for the power button, it’s placed on the right just below the volume rocker. The power button also houses the fingerprint scanner of the smartphone which is fast enough for my usage. The positioning on the right is also perfect for my hand.
Samsung Galaxy A12 Review: Display
Despite being the manufacturer of the best AMOLED displays on the smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy A12 only features an IPS display which is why the colors of the display is inferior compared to the other Galaxy smartphones.
But don’t worry because the display of the Galaxy A12 isn’t really bad. It’s good enough even for using it under direct sunlight. The display is also large enough at 6.5-inch with an HD+ resolution. There’s a notch at the top too and thankfully, the bezels on the smartphone aren’t thick.
Samsung Galaxy A12 Review: Battery
The battery of the smartphone is where the Samsung Galaxy A12 really shines. There’s a 5000mAh battery inside the smartphone and we got a pretty good score of 14 hours and 36 minutes in our PC Mark test. In our normal usage, the smartphone would last more than a day of usage at an average use.
But again, charging the smartphone with its 15W charger may take some time before we can fully charge it. Most of the time, I charge the smartphone before going to sleep.
Samsung Galaxy A12 Review: Performance & Software
For its processor, the Samsung Galaxy A12 comes with a dated Helio P35 processor which is more than a year old already. The smartphone’s processor might be capable of running different apps and games but it’s definitely not the most powerful at its price range.
If you’re just using basic applications like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and the likes then this one wouldn’t have any problems but you might experience slowdowns and lags when multi-tasking a lot of applications on the smartphones. For the benchmarks, the Samsung Galaxy A12 is definitely not the best one:
It can play basic games such as Mobile Legends but don’t expect to run heavier games on the smartphone. But it’s pretty good enough to run games like League of Legends: Wild Rift as the smartphone can reach up to 60 fps on this one.
Samsung Galaxy A12 Review: Camera
As for the camera, the Samsung Galaxy A12 comes with a quad-camera lens. It comes with a 48MP main camera, 5MP ultra wide-angle camera, 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. The smartphone’s camera can perform well in well-lit conditions and surprisingly, I didn’t expect that the ultra wide-angle lens of the smartphone would also perform in my expectations. Both lenses perform well in the color department but as expected, shooting at ultrawide provides fewer details.

Samsung Galaxy A12 Review: Verdict
Overall, the smartphone does offer a long battery life and just a decent camera but the smartphone’s processor is already dated which makes it less powerful compared to other smartphones but if you’re looking for a Samsung smartphone with an affordable price tag then you might want to consider this one, The Samsung Galaxy A12.
