Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro X Review

If you want a notebook to have the balance of portability and power – a notebook that you can use both for work and also for games then you might want to take a look at the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro X. It’s the newest notebook from the company that comes with a 12th Generation Intel Core H-processor inside and also an RTX 3050 graphics inside.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro X Review: Design and Hardware

One of the things that you can really appreciate with Yoga notebooks from Lenovo is their design. They do have a distinguishable design DNA or language and it looks premium and professional.

It features an ultra-thin design with aerospace-grade 6000-series aluminum and it does sport curved or rounded edges which reminds me of most smartphones on the market now. Make no mistake, because despite having a pretty decent power inside the notebook, the notebook is still portable to bring at 1.45kg and it’s still pretty thin at 15.9mm. This notebook combines the great features of a portable notebook and is also a powerful one.

At the lid of the notebook, there’s no simple but elegant YOGA logo along with the Lenovo logo and again, there’s the curve on the sides as well which compliments the curved sides of the notebook.

For the ports, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro X got a 2x Thunderbolt 4 ports, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, 1x Audio Combo jack, and a 1x HDMI 2.0. The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro X got almost every ports that you need except for the SD card reader and in my experience, I had fun using the laptop as long as I bring my dongle with me.

One of the things that I like about the notebook is the Dolby Atmos Certified Harman stereo speakers. It’s loud and it’s perfect for watching movies and videos on the notebook. So it’s something that I really appreciate. You can also control the settings of the speakers with the Dolby app on the notebook.

Another feature that I like about the notebook is the webcam. It might not be the best but this one supports IR for unlocking and then there’s the electronic shutter as well for a “kill switch” for your privacy. This is a cool feature for those people who are worried about their privacy, especially at this time when a lot of people are working from home.

As for the battery, the notebook comes in with 70WHr battery inside and we were able to have a normal battery life of 8 hours on normal usage. That’s a far cry from the 12 hours promised by Lenovo. Nonetheless, it was still good.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro X Review: Display

One of the advantages of this notebook is also the display as this one comes with a 3K 14.5-inch display with a 92.5% screen-to-body ratio which is why the display does have thin bezels and as for the colors, they were excellent on the notebook. They’re promising Delta E<1 colors on the notebook and the brightness was good as well at 400 nits.

But my favorite one is the 120Hz refresh rate. Despite not having an AMOLED display on the notebook, I really appreciate that they have a higher refresh rate for games and it’s adaptive as well so it can save more battery. As for the aspect ratio, this one comes in 16:10 which is getting popular with most notebooks these days. Actually, I like its aspect ratio as I can split two windows comfortably on the notebook with a lot of content to see. It’s perfect for opening two web pages side by side or just comparing notes on my office files.

As for the quality, it’s perfect whether you wanna use it for playing games or for video editing even when outside as the colors are just great and of course, the display of the notebook is really bright.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro X Review: Keyboard and trackpad

One of the features that Lenovo notebooks are known for for their keyboard. It has well-built, well-spaced, and full-sized keys. Typing on it was a breeze and actually, I love typing my reviews and using it for work as the keys are very responsive. The layout is well-built as well which makes it easier to type on. However, the function keys of the notebook are a little bit smaller.

Aside from that, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro X also packs a backlit keyboard that is bright enough to be used in any condition. It gives me stages of brightness which gives me more options for the keyboard.

While the touchpad of the notebook is excellent as well. It gives me a spacious touchpad and it’s very responsive as well and clicking on it was really fine. It’s really usable and I didn’t had any problems when I was using it. Gliding on it and clicking on it was a fine experience.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro X Review: Performance

Inside the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro X is one of its biggest features and selling points. First, the notebook comes in with Intel Core i7-12700H processor along with Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 GPU inside with 4GB GDDR5 memory inside. This duo makes it a very interesting laptop as the H-processor of Intel performs really well across the board and their choice of GeForce RTX 3050 inside makes it a balance of both power and also portability.

As for the other hardware, it also comes with a large 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM which is more than enough for most people and then there’s the 1TB of PCIe Gen4 SSD inside as well which is fast enough whether you want the notebook for content creation or for some light gaming.

Without a doubt, the 12th Generation Intel Core i7-12700H processor inside the notebook is powerful as the benchmarks performed pretty well and the fans didn’t go loud and the performance was really well. Check out the benchmarks of the notebook below.

Crystal Disk Mark shows us that the SSD does get a really fast PCIe Gen 4 speeds.

In Cinebench R23, we just saw how powerful the processor of the notebook is

We were also able to use the notebook for light and casual gaming thanks to the RTX 3050 graphics inside. We were able to play Horizon Zero Dawn at very comfortable framerates.
