Starmobile recently unveiled their newest smartphones and one of them is the Starmobile Play Club. The play series of Starmobile are the affordable smartphones of Starmobile and one of their newest smartphone is the Starmobile Play Club. This smartphone is priced at P2,690 only which makes it very interesting. Do you want to know more about it? Check out my review of the smartphone below.
Construction
As expected on an entry-level Android smartphone, this one doesn’t have too much fancy things on its design and it only packs a plastic build but the smartphone feels very comfortable to hold and it doesn’t feel really that cheap. The design of the smartphone is very neat and I like the shade of colors that are available for the smartphone and I was happy to see that there’s an extra back cover and a hard case in the box.
Inside the smartphone is a 4GB internal strorage which is expandable via MicroSD. There’s a dual sim card slot too and a 1400mAh battery but unfortunately this smartphone doesn’t support OTG but hey, this is just an affordable smartphone.
There’s a 1400mAh battery inside the Starmobile Play Club and it was able to last up to a day of use on me at normal use. Just the normal battery life of most Android smartphones these days.
Display
The smartphone packs a 4-inch display with 800×480 resolution. In today’s standards, the display doesn’t really shine compared to other smartphones but again, this is just an affordable smartphone. The smartphone’s display isn’t really bright and the outdoor visibility isn’t that good but for its price, I wouldn’t complain about the display and actually, it seems ok for me.
Software and Performance
This smartphone packs a Dual-Core MediaTek MT6572 processor and there’s a 512MB of RAM. For a dual-core smartphone, the performance is good but don’t expect too much from it. I was able to use the smartphone without a problem for browsing the internet, playing light and for checking out social networking sites but when you want to play some heavy games, don’t expect too much from the Starmobile Play Club. I was able to get a score of 10461.
I tried Dead Trigger 2 on this smartphone and it wasn’t really that smooth but it was playable. There’s a 4GB of Internal storage and you could use more than half of it despite having a lot of bloatware applications preinstalled on the phone. The first thing you’ll notice after opening your phone is that the phone has 3 pre-installed launcher which is a little bit annoying but I’m glad they’ve a Simple launcher which is great for first time smartphone users because it is user-friendly and it is easy on the eye.
One of the awesome app that’s pre-installed on the Starmobile Play Club is the health app. This app has pedometer, a cardiograph (heart rate sensor), calorie counter, physical measurement and a notification when to drink your water. It’s an awesome app however using the cardiograph is a hassle to me because instead of using the flash and the camera at the back, the Starmobile Play Club is using the front sensors.
Camera
The Starmobile Play Club got a 5 Megapixel Rear Camera and it wasn’t really impressive. The photos that I took using the Starmobile Play Club produces just the right colors however the photos weren’t really sharp and there are too much noise on the picture even at well-lit conditions. At low light conditions, the quality isn’t really that good. But c’mon, this is an affordable Android device so don’t expect too much from it.
Verdict
The Starmobile Play Club is one of the most affordable Starmobile has to offer today. It might only pack a dual-core processor and some bloatware apps but this affordable smartphone is offered in different colors, comes with a free case and back cover and the build quality of the smartphone is pretty sturdy compared to other smartphones at its price range. The Starmobile Play Club is now available for P2,690
