JCB outs new rugged Android phones: Toughphone and Toughphone Max

Renowned British heavy equipment manufacturer JCB has reentered the smartphone market with the announcement of two new rugged Android devices. The JCB Toughphone and Toughphone Max are MIL-SPEC 810G compliant and boast an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. These durable smartphones feature hardened polycarbonate frames with metal elements, providing robust protection for demanding environments.

The JCB Toughphone showcases a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution and a sleek waterdrop notch housing a 20MP front-facing camera. On the other hand, the Toughphone Max offers a larger 6.67-inch IPS LCD screen with FHD+ resolution and a 20MP selfie camera tucked inside a convenient punch-hole cutout. Both devices are equipped with Gorilla Glass-protected screens and rubber rims for enhanced drop protection. Additionally, pre-applied glass screen protectors add an extra layer of safeguarding.

The JCB Toughphone features a single 20MP rear camera and an LED flash, ensuring decent photography capabilities for users. Meanwhile, the Toughphone Max boasts a more advanced camera setup, including a 48MP primary sensor, a 16MP ultrawide module, a 2MP macro lens, and a VGA module. With these camera configurations, users can capture impressive images in various scenarios.

Performance and Storage

Meanwhile, powered by MediaTek chipsets, the JCB Toughphone relies on the Helio P22 processor paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. On the other hand, the Toughphone Max employs the Dimensity 700 chipset, offering a more powerful performance with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. These configurations ensure smooth multitasking and ample storage capacity for apps, media, and files.

The JCB Toughphone is equipped with a 4,050mAh battery, providing ample power to keep the device running throughout the day. Pricing and Availability

The JCB Toughphone is available for pre-order at a price of £300, while the Toughphone Max is priced at £600. Deliveries are set to commence from mid-July, providing consumers with reliable and durable smartphones suitable for rugged environments.
