According to a recent Bloomberg report, ARM is set to terminate its chip design license with Qualcomm. This move from ARM could impact Qualcomm’s ability to produce certain semiconductor products.
Arm Holdings is responsible for designing semiconductor architectures, provides the essential blueprints for chips used in a wide range of devices. While Qualcomm is one of the biggest producers of mobile processors and system-on-chips. These chips relies heavily on Arm’s designs including to create its Snapdragon processors
The cancellation of Qualcomm’s design license could disrupt its supply chain however, with the usage of the new Oryon Chip which are using a different architecture made by the founders of Nuvia which was bought out by Qualcomm, Qualcomm processors won’t have a problem in the future.
