ASUS ROG Phone 3 Unveiled: Gaming smartphone with Snapdragon 865+ CPU and 6000mAh battery

ASUS has just unveiled the third generation ROG Phone and it’s better than ever as we got here more powerful hardware inside the smartphone and of course, we do have a lot of new features to expect on the smartphone. The design of the smartphone might have similarities to the previous generation but there’s a lot of improvements done on the smartphone.

First, the ASUS ROG Phone 3 now comes in two variants — ASUS ROG Phone 3 and the ASUS ROG Phone 3 Strix Edition. The former packs a more powerful Snapdragon 865+ chipset and it also comes with 5G  while the Strix version of the smartphone comes with a slower Snapdragon 865 chipset with no 5G inside. But of course, the smartphones will come in different variants when it comes to memory and storage.

Both smartphones will come with a 6.59-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate which is one of the highest refresh rate in the market right now for a smartphone.  But of course, you can still choose from the settings on what refresh rate that you’re comfortable. We still got here a bezel at the and bottom to give way for the accessories of the ROG Phone 3.

The smartphone also features a 6000mAh battery so you can be sure that the smartphone can last really long even when you have accessories plug into the smartphone. Unfortunately this time, we’re losing the headphone jack on the smartphone but thankfully, the AeroActive Cooler 3 comes with a headphone jack and a USB-C pass through.

We still got here the AirTrigger 3 but this time with support for many gestures. As expected, the smartphone comes with dual front-facing speakers which will make sure that the notebook does have pretty good audio.

The company has also upgraded its cooling system with the ROG GameCool 3 System that gives a better cooling with its larger copper heatsink that is 6x larger than the ROG Phone II, and a redesigned 3D Vapor Chamber.

And of course, the ASUS ROG phone 3 will come with different optional accessories aside from the AeroActive Cooler 3 on the smartphone. First, there’s the ROG Kunai 3 Gamepad that gives you a better grip on the smartphone and it also gives a gamepad. It’s quiet similar to the Joy-cons of the Nintendo Switch and you can use it in different modes. Aside from that, there’s the ROG Kunar 3 Bumper that protects your smartphone too and the ROG gaming clip so you can clip your smartphone to a PS4 controller or an Xbox controller.

Another cool accessory for the ROG Phone 3 is the ROG Lighting Armor Case 3 that protects your ROG phone 3 from bumps and scratches and it also gives you an Aura lighting for a nice visual experience at the back. This actually reminds me of the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 that has an AniMatrix LED design at the lid of the notebook.

The ASUS ROG TwinView Dock 3 is still here that gives you an additional display for your smartphone and it comes with a 144Hz refresh rate on a 6.6-inch AMOLED display. It also comes with a cooler and a 3.5mm audio jack, RGB LED, and a 5000mAh battery.
