During the recent Apple event, the company has announced that the AirPods Pro 2 will be capable of functioning as a clinical-grade hearing aid for those with mild to moderate hearing loss. And today, The US Food and Drugs administration has just approved the Apple Airpods Pro 2 as a hearing aid.
The AirPods Pro 2 will have an update this fall in where users can use the wireless earbuds as hearing aids as long as they’re connected to an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Users can leverage a personalized hearing profile from the hearing test which is coming to the Apple devices soon and it can deliver custom settings that can help those with hearing problems.
The AirPods Pro 2 now also feature Hearing Protection, which reduces exposure to loud environmental noise like concerts or sports events without compromising sound quality. According to Apple’s hearing study, one in three people are regularly exposed to harmful noise levels.
The AirPods Pro hearing aid feature will be available in Canada this fall via an update.
